چکیده

Acoustic feedback is a common phenomenon that occurs during hearing aid use, limiting the maximum gain can provide. Effective cancellation of acoustic an essential feature aids. However, due to complex environments in which aids are used and frequently changing path, it difficult for existing adaptive filter-based algorithms balance both convergence speed steady-state error. For this reason, based on nonparametric variable step size (NPVSS) algorithm, weighted NPVSS algorithm also introduces prediction error method proposed paper. First, by introducing method, filter bias caused nonwhite source signal effectively reduced. Second, weighting mechanism weights according misalignment, enhances robustness while accelerating its convergence. In addition, new low-complexity herein energy estimation reusing misalignment information solve calculation problem algorithm. Simulation results show exhibits greater faster than similar algorithms. The implemented with real performance measured dummy head soundproof room. test demonstrate achieves 35% reduction time compared PEM-IMLMS 60% PEM-NLMS. Furthermore, reduces sound pressure level residues PEM-NLMS approximately 2 dB SPL 6 SPL, respectively. These indicate provide timely stable feedback.

Improved prediction error filters for adaptive feedback cancellation in hearing aids

Acoustic feedback is a well-known problem in hearing aids, caused by the undesired acoustic coupling between the hearing aid loudspeaker and microphone. Acoustic feedback produces annoying howling sounds and limits the maximum achievable hearing aid amplification. This paper is focused on adaptive feedback cancellation (AFC) where the goal is to adaptively model the acoustic feedback path and e...

Evaluation of State-of-the-Art Acoustic Feedback Cancellation Systems for Hearing Aids

In this work we evaluate four state-of-the-art acoustic feedback cancellation systems for hearing aid applications. We show that significant improvements in cancellation performance can be made over traditional systems by allowing small alterations in the loudspeaker signal and a computational complexity increase by a factor of 2 − 3. The evaluation is based on a listening test and objective as...

Band-limited feedback cancellation with a modified filtered-X LMS algorithm for hearing aids

Commonly used wideband adaptive feedback cancellation techniques do not provide satisfactory performance for reducing feedback oscillation in hearing aids. In this paper, a band-limited adaptive feedback cancellation algorithm using normalized filtered-X LMS techniques is proposed that provides good cancellation efficiency, convergence behavior and better output sound quality for speech signals...

Source Separation for Feedback Cancellation in Hearing Aids

This thesis addresses the problem of feedback cancellation in hearing aids using source separation techniques. Feedback oscillation (when a hearing aid whistles) is a major issue with hearing aids. It limits the maximum gain that can be achieved. The biggest barrier in solving this problem is the bias in feedback cancellation. A great number of algorithms are proposed during the last two decade...
